High levels of mercury found in the body

We have observed that many of our patients show high levels of mercury using PureNordic's spectrophotometric analysis. A significant source of mercury exposure is amalgam fillings in the teeth, which consist of about 50% mercury. Although these fillings have been used in dental treatment for many years, there is increasing concern about their potential health effects.

Symptoms of elevated mercury levels: Mercury poisoning can manifest through a range of symptoms, depending on exposure level and duration. Common symptoms include:

  • Neurological and psychological disorders: Fatigue, headaches, concentration difficulties, memory problems, depression, anxiety, and irritability.
  • Physical complaints: Tremors, unsteady gait, muscle pain, joint pain, and reduced coordination.
  • Sensory changes: Visual disturbances, hearing loss, tinnitus (ear ringing), and taste disorders.
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms: Loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea, or constipation.
  • Cardiovascular problems: Irregular heartbeat, high or low blood pressure.
  • Immune system reactions: Allergic skin reactions, frequent infections, and autoimmune responses.

It is important to note that these symptoms can be nonspecific and overlap with other health issues, making it challenging to identify mercury as the underlying cause.

Why is this a problem? Mercury is a heavy metal with known toxic effects on the human body. Chronic exposure, even in small amounts, can lead to accumulation in tissues and organs, especially in the brain and kidneys. This can result in long-term health problems that significantly affect quality of life. Studies have shown that removal of amalgam fillings can reduce the level of inorganic mercury in the body and improve subjective health complaints in some patients.

If you suspect that your health problems may be related to amalgam fillings, it is recommended to consult a qualified healthcare professional for assessment and possible treatment.
